Devices

Motion Sensors Pick up motion and changes in heat in a location, there are many different types of motions and uses

  • Exterior - Detect movement outside your home or business.
  • Pet Immune - Allows pets to move freely, but can detect movemnet from a body of a certain size and so continue to protect you at all times.
  • Standard - both wall and ceiling mounted motion detectors available.  Positioning is customized to meet your needs and requirements
  • Dual Tech - Both microwave and infared capabilities to eliminate false alarms by requiring both technologies to verify an intrusion before an alarm is activated.
  • Microwave - Microwave sensors utilize a doppler radar signal which bounces microwaves off an object then measures the frequency of the returning waves.  Microwave sensors offer a greater distance of coverage and are more reliable at greater distances.  They also penetrate walls which means these security sensors can be placed behind objects.  One of the drawacks of using microwave solely for home security is their strong sensitivity.  This makes them hard to set and adjust effectivelty and makes them sensitve to interference from other electrical devices.

Glass Break

Glass Break Sensors are a perimeter device because they catch the burgler attempting to enter your home or business

  • Accoustical - These use an omnidirectional microphone that hear the sound of broken glass.  They can be mounted anywhere near a window and will respond to the frequency of the breaking glass.
  • Shock - Breaking glass products produce a specific shock that travels through glass and window frames.  When shock sensors feel the wave generated by breaking glass they signal the alarm.  These sensors mount directly on the glass or frame and give you a product immune to false alarms.  Shock sensors can operate on windows with heavy drapes or shutters and they can help prevent breakin attempts by providing a visual deterrant to intruders.

Contacts

Magnetic contact sensors detect when contact between the 2 parts is broken.  They can be attacted in various locations dependent upon the information the homeowner wishes to receive.

  • Surface - Surface contacts are place on the opening surface of the window and frame, the contact mounts on the frame of the window and the magnet is mounted from 1/4" to 3/4" away on the window. The reed switch in the contact latches when the magnetic force of the magnet comes close, causing the contact to be secure
  • Flush - These contacts come in various sizes they mount on the opening side of the door and window frames the magnets install in the doors and windows. The reed switch in the contact latches when the magnetic force of the magnet comes close, causing the contact to be secure
  • Overhead door -  Are contacts that mount in locations where there can be more movement then usual eg. an overhead door they can be mounted at the top side or bottom of the door.

Photo Beams

  • Interior - Inside your home you can use photo beams to monitor your home for any movement in your absence
  • Exterior - Outside your home you can use the photo beams to monitor the perimeter of the home.
  • Single - Single beam detectors have one transmiter and one receiver that sends out one beam which if broken will operate controllers.
  • Dual  - Dual beam detectors have one transmitter and one receiver that sends out two beams which both beams have to be broken to operate controllers. Less chance of false alarm with the dual beam.

Pressure Sensors

  • Interior - These sensors are epoxyed to the floor joists, boat deck or steel beam and as someone steps on the location the sensor flexes causing a variable resistance causing the processor to send a signal to the controller.
  • Exterior - These sensores can be epoxyed to the bottom of decks to operate the same as the interior units
