  Seniors also can benefit from a home automation system allowing them to remain in their home longer by providing a safe alternative to assisted living.  Aging sometimes makes comparitively simple tasks or actions more difficult to perform and issues with memory may cause problems.  With home automation lights go on automatically before the home is entered, or there is movement out in the yard.  Closed circuit TV allows the senior to see the outside of the home without placing themselves in danger or keeping in contact visually and audibly with loved ones where ever they might be.  Window shades can be programmed to open or close, lights can be turn off or on from the any where in the home.  Supervisory controls can be installed so if the stove is left on a simple heat detector can automatically turn it off, or if water is left running and it overflows it can be shut off automatically. A monitoring system such as Lifeline or Medical Alert can be installed to allow the senior to report a fall or any other dangerous situation.
