Smoke Detectors: Smoke detectors have saved thousands of lives.  They are your first defense against fire in your home.

There are 2 different types of of fire or smoke detectors for  your home

• Ionization fire alarms for fast burning flames
• photoelectric fire alarms for smoldering fires

For the best protection fire professionals suggest installing both inoization and photoelectric fire alarms systems in your homes one unit on each level is the minimum requirement.

Test your smoke detectors and practice your escape route monthly

Heat Detector:   There are two types of heat detectors

• fixed temperature 
• rate of rise

Heat detectors  are installed in garages, furnace rooms etc. if you have an attached garage there should be one installed for quicker response if a fire breaks out.

Low Temperature: If the temperature changes drastically in your home or cottage due to power outages or furnace malfunction the temperature alarm can save you from frozen pipes and water lines, by alerting you before the freezing temperatures cause damage that could be devistating and costly.  Temperature alarms are also able to monitor temperatures inside wine cellars, greenhouses, livestock buildings, refrigeration and furnace rooms. 

Moisture Sensors: These sensors or alarms will alert you if there is water leakage in your home.  They are especially useful for seasonal homes and will notify you of leaks, septic backup or overflow and springtime or storm flooding.  The moisture sensors will provide protection from unforseen problems by sending a signal before accumulated water causes serious damage.

Carbon Monoxide Detectors: Carbon Monoxide is a clear odourless gas that can kill if it is undetected.  The Carbon Monoxide Detector will monitor the air in your home and alert you to the presence of the gas. 

Water COP System:  STOP major water leaks before they become major problems.  With the Water Cop System the main water line is automatically turned off when a leak is detected.  This effectively reduces the chance of water damage due to common plumbing problems. 

FreezeHound: This temperature Sensor works with the water Cop by monitoring the temperature of a specific pipe (most likely one leading to an outdoor spigot, sprinkler system or one located on exterior walls)  When the temperature drops below 38 degrees the FreezeHound will alert the water cop to shut the water off to the house, preventing any continuous flow from a burst pipe.  This system does not prevent the pipe from freezing but it will reduce the extensive flooding if a pipe bursts.
